We use several tractors throughout the winter and I can tell you that not all tires are equal on snow and ice. We have two 1066s with bais ply goodyear long bar/short bar tires that are helpless on snow and ice without chains. We also have an 826 with a loader that has Firestone radials that grip the ice almost as good as chains without the hassle. We've used it side by side with a 1066 with chains and in deep snow the Firestones are just as good as chains. The Firestones are expensive but we like them enough that we won't buy any other rear tractor tire, have two ordered right now as a matter of fact.
