I think it's the same way with tractor repair or auto shops.Most actually charge about twice what the posted rate is.They can fudge a little on how long a job took,some charge $20.00 or so for shop materials to every job,charge over list price for parts.At a chevy dealership I worked at several years ago an old man came in to get an electrical problem fixed,I saw right away it was a bad fuse (not making connection).They told him to leave it over night, and charged him $50.00 for electrical work.
