1/8-28 is indeed Bristih Standard pipe. European pipe is a bit confusing because the vast bulk of it is actually British standard pipe threads but it is commonly referred to out in the field as metric pipe. Adding to that confusion is there is indeed metric pattern pipe thread but it is very uncommon. I have never ran into it personally.
