Hey Ron refer to Chuck's post except what i would do when I had the check ball fitting out I would take a small punch and get rid of the check ball entirely I know of no good purpose they serve ecxept to give problems like your having, I have busted many of them with no adverse effects at all, if you do this be sure you get all of it out plus the spring.
