Since you didn't mention the model number, 542 or 560. I would say you have late model tractor type fluid in the transmission. These models were designed to use 80/90 GL5 type fluid. 90 Weight mineral oil can be used as well. If I remember correctly there is only a filter screen located on the pump itself just inside the left hand inspection plate where the PTO shifter is. It would also help if you kept your reservoir slightly over filled to avoid the top of the screen from sucking air and foaming the oil while using the loader.
