The tank on top of the tubes of a radiator is designed to "capture" coolant as it warms up and expands.......on older design cooling systems. In growing up, I always filled my radiator tank full and experienced over flow problems. So I stuck an gallon container of some sort between the radiator and grille and stuck the overflow tube in it. Every so often I would put the contents back into the radiator.
Time passes and one day I'm reading a tractor manual and what I said above was clearly posted. I decided to fill my radiators just above the top of the tubes when the engine is cold and never had an overflow problem since.
If this applies to you it might solve your problem.
