This is follow up on the "free" civic that we are fixing up.
There were three main outstanding issues:
The front end had a good bounce @ highway speeds. I knew the left front upper shock mount was shot, but got the tires balanced too. One of the front tires was 2.5 ounces out of balance. It still shook, so I changed the upper shock mount out today. That turned out to be a bigger job than I had planned. All the bolts came right loose, which surprised me. The spring compressor I had was too big and would not fit, so I ended up moving it several times When done it is smooth at silk up to the speed the little car will go.
The exhaust pretty much leaks all the way from the manifold to the muffler, drivable, but getting replaced next weekend.
The big issue is the idle surge. It is getting too much air around the throttle plate somehow. The computer thinks the IAC is bad, I have replaced it and am still getting the same issue. I can hold my hand over the throttle intake, and it kills the engine, so I know it is not an external leak. I can hold a piece of cardboard over the inlet for the IAC and it will idle down to 600 RPM, nice and smooth. I am finding it hard to believe I have two bad IAC valves in a row.
The passenger windows do not work at all, that is next on the list.
