Over 20+ years ago one of the janitors at the high school gave me three 5 gallon plastic jugs that some floor cleaning liquid had come in. I've been using those as my gas cans ever since. I have a large funnel for filling the tractors and a smaller one for the lawn mowers. Works great, and doesn't spill enough gas to ever worry about.
