As a former 3-pt backhoe owner, I couldn't agree more.
I had a JD 4010 with a JD backhoe that appears to have come off of a JD 310 TLB. From what I gathered, the TLB died, so someone took the backhoe and converted it to 3-pt, so it could work on multiple tractors. Sounds like a great idea, right?
Well, the finished unit was built well - I have to hand that to them. BUT....it was very heavy, and even a bit heavy for the 4010. When in use, there was no practical way of keeping the hoe low to the ground as the bucket would dig in, so it was always a bronco ride.
In the end, I sold them off.....separately. The backhoe ended up going to someone with an even larger machine that made the hoe look small. But like you, he only wanted it for the same reasons you listed. Difference is, his machine cost 6 figures, cab and MFWD, but you're considering a much smaller machine. ....I'd look for a used TLB unit.
What you want will work, but you will likely have regrets about going the 3-pt route.
