The drive in fittings are 5/16" and I have never had a problem with them And most places a fitting was screwed in the steel is too hard to drill of tap. Had the 1/4-28 fittings that would like to have threads that would not after years hold that fitting and impossible to drill to tap for a 1/8" pipe thread fitting. Had way more of those 1/4-28 fittings come out than ever had with the drive in fittings.
