I have a 8n tractor or I thought with a 3 speed transmission and reverse. Everything I've been reading shows only 2n/9n with 3 speed and 8n with 4 speed. Is this correct? Did they make a 8n with 1,2,3,R? yes the engine shows a 8n seriel # and with both brake pedals on the same side which is a 8n rearend. I must have a 2n/9n tranny and After bush hogging for a few hours this weekend in first gear. I returned back to the shed in 2 gear. After placing the tractor in neutral or so I thought and letting out on the clutch the tractor is still in gear. I shifted the tractor into reverse but the tractor bogs down and does not move as if its in 2 gears at one time.Any advise on what to look for after I pull the top cover. I have never been into the tranny.
