I've seen a bunch of dyi boom poles here over the years, some of them beautifully built pieces of equipment. But invariably they are made WAY TOO HEAVY. I have had this cheap King Kutter boom pole for 18 years now and have used and abused it a lot. It weighs about 80? lbs and is plenty for one man to drag around and put on and take off a tractor. Yet it will lift the front of this 4000 off the ground. I am an excellent welder/fabricator and could build one too but never would. Not when I could buy one for less than the price of the steel.
