I don't think the WD 40 will hurt anything. My dad was an old school mechanic and ran a repair business alongside his farm. He loved a challenge and would buy the toughest looking old tractor to restore...a cent a pound! He unseized well over 50 old relics and got them running again, some he restored to as new. The worst he had without resorting to new piston etc. was a DC 3 Case. Head off, diesel /atf on top of the piston, hammered with a block of wood, jacked up the tractor with the pan off and put the full weight of it against a crankshaft throw by blocking it up. No luck. Finally lit a fire on top of each piston with the diesel atf mix and that freed it up. The worst I had was a 55 MH gas that sat outside for years with no muffler. Water ran in, froze the sleeves open . More water ran in, filled the block and split it apart. I was able to save the crankshaft and head but the rest of the engine was scrap. Hope you do better with yours. Patience is a virtue!
