Jim, I had the same experience about 30 years ago at Fastnall.
I needed some belleville washers, stopped in a local store, first time in, only customer in the place.
I was met with arrogance and apathy. The sleepy counter man didn't know what belleville washers were but was sure they didn't have them, I was an idiot for wasting his time, and there is the door!
