OK, I`m ignorant. I use a Cummins diesel to power my sawmill. In order to make it function properly I have to have an extra part put on the fuel system. Without that part it acts just like it doesen`t have a governor. When you put a load on it, it falls on its face. When you install that part and put a load on it, it picks up the load just like it had a governor on it.
I also have a log truck, powered by a 350 Cummins, with a Hood loader on it. It needs the same type of part on the fuel system to function properly, as the engine on my sawmill .
So, my question to you is, if diesel engines have an internal governor installed at the factory, why do I have to spend in excess of 500.00 dollars to have this part installed on my engines? Could it be that what you are talking about is the device that keeps the engine from overrevving?
