Back in the 60's and 70's, the canning factories in Wisconsin did it all the time on the tractors used for mowing and windrowing peas. The transmission was "doctored" to run the thing in reverse, the clutch and brake pedals were rearranged and a backward facing seat was added between the front of the fender and the steering wheel. It was kind of goofy to get the hand of it, but after a couple of hours in the field, the drivers got pretty good at it.
Seems like I remember a lot of Oliver 880's, 770' and Farmall 560's done up this way.
Believe me, it was very common around here and I'm sure some of the canning factory mechanics visit this forum.
