Seems to me that he has a lot of nerve giving you a deadline. If I were you, the price would go back up to the original asking price. That is a fair price for a good piece of equipment. Why give a discount to a jerk?
Consider that if you do sell to this guy, you may end up "married" to that equipment for a long time because he will bug you about every little problem that he imagines about it. At some point, you could wish that you had never sold it to him.
