A friend and I went to the Prairie Homestead show at Belmond, Ia. It was a great show with unbelievable weather. Got to see some of the Iowa Plowing contest. Also met a fellow Yter, well just a lerker according to him. LOL Took a ton of pictures. I will post them tomorrow.
I would recommend this show to anyone. Just a smaller show but a lot of variety for everyone. More whole family oriented than most shows. Petting zoo for the little ones. A grain bin ring with a roof with some corn in the bottom like a big enclosed sand box. Saw mill big and mini. Great food at a very reasonable price. Especially for a family. Lunch special for $5 with bottled drink. Blacksmith/forge. 1930 era house, complete with furniture form the period. School house with beautiful wood work and floors. Lovely peg and tendon hay barn. Quilts for the ladies and other of that type of stuff.
I will post one picture. Think this young fellow will ever forget this show???? He is driving it not just setting on it. His father was right behind him just out of the picture so do not freak out. LOL

As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
