A bad time to be building a 80-85 HP tractor with chronic problems. Around the same time IH 766, Ford 7700, and White 2-85 were being built with much better reputations. The worst thing perhaps about the JD 4030 aside from not offering MFWD was it should have had a few more cubes in the motor to go toe to toe with the other tractors I just mentioned. Massey misstepped badly during the 1970's and without support from the British government would have failed the earliest during the 1980's.
