Dad had bought these two M Farmalls,a 41 and a 49.One had a bad tranny and the other a bad enigne,or so we were told.We werent to big into this restoration thing,we were rebuilding them for work.Well Dad thought that the 41 was newer thatn the 49 because the guy he got them from had appaerntly taken off some of the give-aways for the newer model and put hte 41.Well we worked on the engine on the 41 for about a week trying to find where the water was coming from, taking off the head and replacing it with the 49 head.Well to shorten it up,we ended up replaceing the entire engine on the 41 with the 49.Got it running good.I went to move it for the first time and CLUNK.Bad tranny. So I pull the tranny cover on the 49 and to our surpise we discover the old man had been wrong.there was nothing wrong with the 49.We had tore it apart for nothing!
