There are a fair number of 4230 4430 4630, even 4010 4020 4320 4520 and 4620 tractors around that have been repowered with 466s pulled from 6620 combines. Tell tale is whether or not the serial number plate is upside down on the engine block.
Question is, how cheap is cheap? A 4630 isn t very desirable and most can be bought for under 10k in running condition. Even 4640 and 4840s often sell for under 12k and they re a much nicer tractor. It d have to be under $2k before I d call it cheap. Even then, it d have to be a 1977 quad range.
A tractor with a bad engine could possibly have a good transmission, there is no way of knowing if you can t try it out. A cheap tractor can get real expensive real fast if you find out you have to put B range in and fix the pto after the swap. It is at least a 42 year old tractor now.
