Olliejunkie, funny you should mention Bondo. I went to a job interview at a small company that made plastic injection machines. The frames were I-beams and the guy was welding them up with a MIG welder. I know it can be done with MIG but not by this guy. I myself would have been using some big 7018 rods. Well the guy is by the open bay door for the fresh breeze. As we walk by one of the unpainted frames I commented on the porosity of the welds. I was informed that yeah it's not a good thing but there just isn't anything that could be done about it. They tried but "that's just the nature of welding". Said that they fill the welds with Bondo before painting. Now I've seen this done on pieces going to trade shows as demos, but not to hide structural defects. Just amazing. There were other alarming practices going on that I noticed in my short time there. Anybody else ever have one of those interviews where you're glad you didn't get a job offer?
