Unless you spend the coin like I did and have a 50 year shingle,, only damage to mine was to the ridge cap,, but the ones I put on cost almost double of a std shingle,, well worth the coin to me as I would have had three replacements by now if I had not gotten the ones I did,, many here with the cheap shingles have to have the sheeting replaced too as it went through it
