I do not know for sure who thinks what about glyphosate. I am sure some are condemning it just for the money. That said, I think only a fool would assume it is safe to manufacture a weed killer and dump it on the ground in huge quantities and not suffer any ill effects from it (directly or indirectly). 20 billion pounds of the chemical have been dumped on the ground and the number keeps going up - and someone actually thinks it is harmless until proven otherwise?
Not sure what the answer is. Lots of people eat lots of food and much of the world's agriculture is not able to grow crops at a profit without chemicals. Herbicides, fertilizers, pesticides, etc. Considering the growing world population, it might be better to have a few die of cancer (from these chemicals) than have even more starve? Seems the most sensible answer would be to stop the population growth - but not a problem I can help. I think the days of small-scale sustainable farming are long gone.
I do not trust many of the so-called authorities on the subject, not do I care what that skinny serious-faced blonde has to say on TV. Still, even if many of them have bad intentions - it does not make the stuff "safe."
