Don't remember the name but the GMC/Olds dealer in Junction City KS was also the JD dealer. First saw them in 74/75 1st time I was at Ft Riley and they were still in business on my last tour there 93-96. I bought an engine kit for an Onan CCK from them in 95. Was cheaper to get the JD kit than to go through ONAN.
In 74-78 in Wakefield KS the Chevy dealer sold IH tractors. Same thing, I never did business with them so don't recall the name. By the 90's of course IH was gone but the Chevy dealer was gone too.
Here in MN Stan Moe Ford in Battle Lake sold the Ford automotive lineup as well as Ford AG and new Holland. When Stan retired Ford pulled the dealership. That would have been in the late 80's when he retired.
So back in the day it wasn't really uncommon I don't think.
