George, I wonder what part of the diesel exhaust bothers you. I for example get an almost immediate head ache smelling ether(starting fluid). Tier 3 I believe removed the diesel particulates-soot/smoke- and tier 4 also removed nitrous oxides from the exhaust. The theory is the output will be cleaner than the input. You may be sensitive to the soot particles in the exhaust. When these engines go thru a regen, there is a smell-you may need to consider that. But the inside of the exhaust pipe is clean: no smoke/no soot. I was a truck mechanic for 40 years, and sometimes a truck would have an exhaust leak.One driver would never know it,and another would tell of getting an awful headache while driving. And a few were in between-'I thought I smelled something'. I used to think it was the carbon monoxide, but now a days I am not so sure. Mark.
