Well really there is not much that can really go wrong with the old Clarks that can not be fixed . Yes it has been many moons since i worked on big Ford trucks but it is like riding a bike ya never really forget . They are really easy to rebuild , they are easy to replace as good god there has to be a million of them . Just because that transmission is in a Ford super duty does not mean that is the only place you will find that transmission as that transmission was used by ALL truck Mfg. Tools needed to work on one are pretty much basic along with a bearing splitter k, Puller and large snap ring pliers. hand full of sockets and a few wrenches . Now depending on the model they can be a scyn trans or a NON scyn. trans The biggest problem with the Scyn. trans is scynro's get beat out of them due to hard shifting , blocking rings get broken then they start jumping out of gear, maybe a bearing went to lunch and chewed up a couple gears . You should be able to find that trans easy . Masy even find one setting in a truck salvage yard rebuilt . Clark , Fuller and New Process, Spicer, transmissions were used . Yep the body and engine were of Ford Mfg. BUT the rest of the drive line was component as per customer Spec. or Dealer spec. if that truck was a stock inventory unit . Then the truck was speced sorta generic as to what the truck dept sales manaager speced it at.
