I agree with you on the 350. I have built both transmissions for customers for heavy duty and racing applications. For heavy work with a 350 I would mill enough off the piston in the direct clutch to allow a fifth pair of clutch plates. I would also get a heavy duty intermediate roller clutch. Along with a heavy duty cooler and a shift kit for both transmissions, I have had good luck with both. The Allison idea sounds intriguing. Let us know what happens. Doc.
