I too use stabilizer bars behind my 8N. I also use chains up front to hold it up. Takes the strain off the hydraulics and frees up a little more power to the bush hog blades.

But with the hilly unsmooth land I have, the leading edges of the hog body invariably dig into the ground at times. I've considered mounting wheels at the leading corners, but I've never bothered to actually do it yet.
