The Oliver Super 99, 990, 995, and I think 1900 and probably another came with a GM diesel. This was a Supercharged 2-stroke diesel engine. REALLY loud and no power unless you were at full throttle. The IH tractor was the HT340 that had a turbine engine and the first hydrostatic drive transmission. The turbine was too loud and consumed too much fuel to be practical, but the hydro transmission made it into the 656 and other tractors into the 80's. Oliver also had an XO-121 experimental tractor they built to show the usefullness of a high compression gasoline engine and high octane fuel. The engine had a 12:1 compression ratio and made similiar efficiency numbers as a diesel. I recall some company had an expiramental fuel cell tractor also, but I don't remember which one. There were literally 1000's of expiramental tractors that were destroyed after testing. Steven
