Had a great weekend, altho some disappointments too. Started with helping my son fix his trailer ramp, he bought a new trailer but the ramp was too short so getting his snowblower tractor on was tough, so I added a foot to it.
That was enough and it loads good now.
In exchange for that he did some wiring in the barn for me. All the wiring was cut in the barn, so there were no lights and the well didn't work. So he ran new wires and fixed me all up. Got lights and water!
Water is pretty yucky looking so going to take some flushing and a shock to get it cleaned up. Now just take out parts of the stalls and make some pens and animals will be in the kingdom. I'm thinking a few calves and hogs.
Sunday was harvest day for corn. Combined most of it but some was poor quality because it was planted late, so I picked that as ear corn hoping it will store better.
The corn was not good because right after I planted we got 5" of rain then two weeks of dry and I got a crust which made for a poor stand. Hopefully next year I'll have a rotary hoe to fix that if it happens again. But I ended up with 4 good loads all together.
Glad this year is done, been a real challenge. But I learned a lot about farming this ground and made a lot of progress towards getting it to drain, so next year's should be better, And hopefully dryer. We've had a bunch of wet years in a row, so we're due for some dry and that is what this farm likes.
After the pens get done and the animals are here it will be winter projects again. Going to be rebuilding haying equipment this year, mower, rake, balers and a power steering unit for the 400. That is if it's not below zero all winter. Lol

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this
