I do understand your argument in this matter (and I want to assure I am not here to argue about it). I am also not here to exploit this issue. I have lost my mother, a great aunt, and four friends to suicide.. It seems that everyone I know has been touched by this tragedy in some way or another.

Before I started this project (and I was on the fence to do so), I gauged the idea by creating a video and consulting my YouTube viewers about their opinions on it (actually, the idea of a joint effort restoration was brought up by a YouTube viewer). I also posted the idea on this forum here, and received a lot of positive support.

The project is a way for us all to do something together with the chance to give back a little, and for others who may not have the opportunity or means to be a part of something. Yes, the tractor is owned by me. I also fully disclose the intentions that I have for the tractor. I have had questions of whether or not it will be auctioned off and my response is no. It will be a traveling billboard of sorts that people (both young and old) can see at the shows, climb on, drive if they wish, and watch do some work in the field whenever the opportunity arises for a plow day. There will be a 'donors board' that accompanies the tractor to the shows. Nearly every person I have explained this to has said that this is BETTER than a auction. They can see the result of what their donations have accomplished. Feel it. Climb on it. Drive it.

I have been very clear about where the donations come from, where they go, and what the intention is with any leftover funds. It will be donated to the SAVE organization in the name of all who were a part of the project. It is a way to honor those who have been lost, to bring a piece of awareness into the hobby we love (because we all have been affected in some way)... And if even one person is struggling and they feel better being a part of something and it changes their outlook on life... Then the project I think served its' purpose.

I have been matching the donations dollar for dollar, and I think that is the least that I should/can do. I put every step of progress on my channel not only to allow others to follow along, but to help others in the hobby get started. To show that you don't need to be a master mechanic to do this stuff, and just how much fun it is (even though it can create great headaches). Many of todays younger crowd doesn't want to read a manual. We live in a 'watch it and do it' type of society. Very impulsive. So, for me, this is also a way to appeal to the younger (and older) people who want to be in the hobby but have no sense of direction.

Couple that with a lot of negativity that you receive on social media for not doing things the right way, with the right tools, etc.. It discourages a lot of people from even beginning to try. I can't tell you how many people have thanked me for the help I have provided. I don't do it for money, to exploit people or any illnesses, or anything like that.

At the end of the day, GoFundMe is a voluntary donation program. If you don't agree with what the many people have donated are trying to accomplish and be a part of, then you have the freedom and choice not to donate. If you think I am some type of crook who is 'piggybacking on a mental illness'. Well, I guess that is your opinion. I encourage you to check out the videos, to read the comments.. This project really is serving a purpose and changing people's outlooks on a lot of things (I think).

Again, feel free to check out the channel, and the link below will take you right to the video that I ask others' opinion on the subject. Have a great New Year, everyone, and happy wrenching.

Today's Featured Article - Memories of an IH Super A When I was ? up to 10, I worked on my Papaw's farm in Greeneville, TN every summer. As I grew older (7), it was the thrill of my day to ride or drive on the tractor. My Papaw had a 1954 IH Super A that he bought to replace a Cub. My Papaw raised "baccer" (tobacco) and corn with the Super A, but the fondest memory was of the sawmill. He owned a small sawmill for sawing "baccer" sticks. The Super A was the powerplant. When I was old enough (7 or 8), I would get up early and be dressed to ... [Read Article]
