I am looking at possibly rebuilding the DBLE disc openers in my 5100 grain drill. They are worn down from 14" new size to 13 1/2" to 13 5/8" in size. Question is setting the proper contact surface area to both blades, for the proper seed "V" opening. Does anyone have experience on shimming disc openers for this type drill? After inspecting some of the individual units the 2 disc do not touch and create a "W" type seed opening which will give an inconstant plant depth.
Also, how do you know if the pressure springs that apply down pressure on the individual units need replaced?
