Very hard to see my Dad unable to do the things he could always do himself and residing in a nursing home was not living for him. At 91 years old he seen farming go from using horses to almost unmanned tractors , boy that was quit a lot to witness and be a part of. He grew up on John Deere equipment starting with a Waterloo Boy , then a Spoker D and so on even farming this year running our JD 8970 tractor, He ran his old JD 9500 combine until we finished on December 27th this past year. January 1 he had a stroke and slowly went downhill passing this past Thursday evening peacefully in his sleep. He started and ran a JD dealership from 1954 until 1998 with only going to grade school. May he rest in peace.
