I agree in part with sports are completely over blown in this country. But as a school board member for over 20 years I will defend gym space as long as you have classroom space. Gyms are classroom space, as many do not get enough exercise. I am probably with a lot of you that say the kids can always go outside, but with over protective mommies and gov't that day has passed. Gyms provide space for recess, PE , inclement weather along with many other curricular and community activities
