Generic answer, common to most gear hydraulic pumps. The seals on the pump are designed to operate under the pressure frm the intake (suction) side of the device. All hydraulic oil that gets past the bushings supporting the gears passes through a passage in the end gasket/s to the intake side of the pump. This prevents the pump seals from ever being exposed to hydraulic system pressure. If the pump was assembled incorrectly the pressure will not be rechanneled. Or if the passages are plugged, or if the hydraulic system vent to atmosphere is plugged. (allowing excessive reservoir pressure making the seals "feel" excess pressure. Someone may add with specific info for your tractor. Jim
