They were never intended to replace a John Deere A or an M Farmall. They were an economical tractor for the small farmer who might not otherwise be able to afford one. You could plow 2 bottoms or run two row equipment, which is what they were intended for.
On a larger operation they were more of a chore tractor. We ran one for years when I was growing up--mostly raking hay, pulling wagons, running the grain elevator, things like that. Worked fine for us.
For bush hogging 4 ft. high grass, use the big tractor!
