Not all were lefties. The big prairie combined were right handed. I wonder if the left hand trend trickled down from grain binders which were typically left handed. Those binders started as ground driven and that might have something to do with gear rotation. Now don’t quote me on this because I believe Cyrus’ original reaper was right handed as were the sickle mowers that followed.
