I was married for 28 years. The mother of my 2 children passed 20 years ago. Looking back I had a woman that never questioned my decisions. Once she was asked why she allows me to buy tools. Her reply, "If I didn't need them I wouldn't have bought them." She realized that having tools saved us money on repairs.
As the sand in my hour glass has more sand at the bottom that on the top. I look back at my life. My effete should read, "I did it My way."
I still buy things and never ask for anyone's permission. That includes buying 5 tractors.
