To me, all of the produce these days tastes awful, except locally grown stuff. A friend manages a produce dept. at a grocery store. He says that the goal is to have produce taste the same, year round.. Yes it tastes the same, but seldom does it taste good. Years ago, seasonal produce was a real treat, we enjoyed it during season, and when it was gone, we just waited til next year.. I seldom buy produce that is way out of season, costs too much, does not taste good, and who knows where it came from, and what kind of chemicals were used on it..
