Posted a while back about my 960 making a terrible clunking noise while using the sickle mower.Sounded like it was coming from the front of the transmission. Took shifter plate off and didn't see anything loose or obvious wrong. Even with sickle mower running. Noise was only heard with pto engaged and under load. Pulled pto shaft, looked fine. Last week I used the 960 to move our woods finish mower. Figured I would cut grass while it was hooked up. No noise? Tried the Bush hog. No noise. Backed up to baler and let it cycle 20-25 times. No noise. So now I'm wondering if we didn't time the sickle correctly when we had it apart replacing sections and guards. Could that cause a funny noise that would transfer to the front of tranny? Just goes until it hits the front wall? Everything was fine until we did the sections and guards. Thoughts? Plan to time mower today. Was going to put it on the new 951 to see if it makes a funny noise. But think we should check timing first.
