As posted the flat cable will work from the positive battery terminal to your ground point (a starter mounting bolt would be best). The cable from the negative battery terminal needs to be an insulated cable. If you used insulated cable to ground and the negative flat strap cable from the negative post, it would short out every where it touched any metal. My choice would be to use insulated cable on both. Save the flat strap negative cable for a negative ground system like it was intended for.
