Tony, unless you have a “Turf” gator the starter and charging are separate, 4x2’s have a charging coil/mag under the flywheel just like a older lawnmower did. A add-on alternator kit was available for them, I have one on mine, you’d know it If yours had it, it’s very visible. Double check which you have, a plain 4x2, a turf gator, or a Th or TS gator (the side of the bed will show) and shoot me an email il I’ll send you a PDF of the technical manual with all the wiring and troubleshooting in it
