It's true Ford's like choke and run rich, but I would think if gas is coming out of the air cleaner side of the carb you have an electrical problem. Are the plugs wet? Fouled? Is the timing correct?
When I was a mere lad, I changed the wires on dad's 8n. I could not get ut to run right nor idle. I wanted to surprise dad. Well when he got home from work he was surprised, and the went through tracing plug wires. It started instantly. Moral. Change on wire at a time OR make a diagram before you take a part. Now says, I just take pics with my cell phone.
