When hurricane Fran came thru we were without power for 11 days I had a motor home hooked to the house everyone in the neighborhood asked me to hook up to there freezer a few hours a day in the end we all lost what we had. My mistake I did not leave the gen running all night long on my house. From that point on my gen stays on my house and running, in a few months gens will be cheap in your area...
