If a 1940's or newer tractor check Auction Time on the internet. I find that the auction prices posted there are very close to what I see at auctions around here and reflect prices concerning private sales. If you have a price in mind above an auction value you can advertise your tractor for that price and see what the market says. If for an example you have a Farmall M and you want 4,500 dollars as it sets condition average it would be improbable to have any buyers at that price so you would have to gradually decrease your price until you have serious buyers contacting you. Depends on how much time you have to sell the tractor. If not pushed I would take my time and start on the high side if just doing an ad.
