I wish I could visit a Canadian plow day with all those wheatland tractors. Not that they do a better job but it is a different scene from a bunch of row crop tractors plowing like we have here in Iowa. A week ago we had a small plow day if you can call it that at our local threshing show site. we did not have a show this year but the wheat and oats was still grown making for a good plow site. It was way too dry for our hard pulling black soil and the tractors struggled big time. One fella had a souped up unstyled A Deere with plenty of weights for tractor pulling and he pulled a three bottom right along. His plow was in good condition and he knew how to adjust it. A couple of big old tractors from the 30's were having traction trouble even with steel wheels with tall lugs because it pulled so hard. The one benefit to the hard dry soil was the plows scoured and shined up just fine. Usually getting a plow shiny in our soil is tough but not this time. We had 1 3/4" of rain after the plowing was done. If we would have had that rain a week before the plowing it would have been a better scene out there.
