When I first went to work at the company I retired from, the owner/founder drove a 10-15 year old Chevy Astro van. At the time he was already a multi-millionaire from the business so I asked why he didn't drive something nicer. He told me that once he had bought a nice new car for his wife, but drove it to the plant when he picked it up. He later heard that workers were griping about how the boss was spending "their raises" on a car. From then on until he retired and handed the company over to his son he never showed up at the plant in a nice rig.
