Last time I was to the family farm in SE Kandiyohi county, I passed a big quad-trak with a very long moldboard plow on US71 S of Belgrade.
My mom's renter does not plow, uses a Dominator 4850 disc ripper. My late Dad stopped plowing bean stubble in the mid 80s and used a sort of chisel plow that had large sweeps on it. Still plowed corn stalks till the end in '97. The soil on the farm has a lot of low areas that in the past really needed to be plowed to bust up the packed died mud. A lot of tile has gone in and conditions in those spots are much improved.
