We still own the farm in Juneau County, Wi that was purchased from the government in 1856 when they came from Norway. First 40 acres were $1.00 per acre. Original deed was signed by President Buchanan.
Really interesting to look at the Original Abstract that now goes back 164 years. My Great, Great Grandfather rode a horse thru Indian Country for 65 miles to The Land Office in Stevens Point to make the purchase.
